The C-NLOPB recently approved Husky’s plan to install a replacement flowline connector in the affected flowline in the South White Rose Extension Drill Centre, where a mid-November 2018 oil spill occurred.
This work will be done by the vessel Skandi Vinland. The following mitigations will be in place when Husky executes this activity in the near future:
- Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) monitoring of subsea activities;
- Second vessel with oil spill response equipment at site; and
- Activities with potential for oil release will be conducted during daylight hours.
On July 2, 2019, the C-NLOPB received Husky’s Interim Investigation Report into the oil spill and the Report is currently being reviewed. This matter is the subject of an ongoing investigation. The C-NLOPB will release its investigation report once available.
Further discussions between the C-NLOPB and Husky will be required prior to any regulatory approval for Husky to resume production from the South White Rose Extension and North Amethyst Drill Centres.
